Why I coach
I didn't become a coach because I had it figured out.
I became one because I didn't.
Managers who didn't see me as a person. Relationships I wasn't fully present for. A team I couldn't reach — no matter what framework I tried.
So I started working on myself.
Books. Reflection. Long stretches of sitting with discomfort until things got simpler. Learning to speak from the heart — not just the head. Learning to stop taking everything personally. Learning that I can't know what's going on inside another person.
That last one changed how I lead.
When I stopped trying to figure people out — and started creating space for them — everything shifted.
Coaching gave me one thing I hadn't found anywhere else: being fully heard. No judgment. No agenda. Just someone who saw me as a human being.
That's what I want to give to technical leaders who are where I was.
